General Information for Parents

Alderbuds is an independently operated, not-for-profit child care centre located in the Etobicoke Civic Centre, at the corner of Burnhamthorpe and the West Mall.

Our space has been newly renovated to better accommodate changing needs for child care services after full-day kindergarten programs began in schools.

Our centre is a secure facility, and all staff members, families and visitors must enter using a pass card or the doorbell outside our centre door.

Hours

Our centre is open Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm.

Licensing

Alderbuds is licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Education and adheres to the standards defined in the Ministry’s Child Care and Early Years Act (which replaced the former Day Nurseries Act).

As well, our centre has a service contract with Toronto Children’s Services to offer care through the city’s child care fee subsidy program. This service agreement means that our centre meets a higher level of operating criteria for child care centres because we meet both provincial and municipal criteria. Only centres that have a service contract with Toronto Children’s Services are required to meet the city’s operating criteria. (See our most recent Toronto Children’s Services quality rating.)

Food

We provide a healthy and tasty lunch and snack to each child every day. All of our food comes from Food for Tots, a catering company providing high-quality meals to children in daycares and schools since 1994.

We are a nut-free centre. If your child has other allergies, we will meet with you to make food arrangements based on your child’s needs.

Fees and Subsidies

We aim to offer high-quality care while ensuring that our fees remain affordable and competitive.

We would be happy to provide information about our fees by phone or during your tour of our centre.

We also offer care through the city’s child care fee subsidy program. Learn more about the child care fee subsidy program and how to apply here.

Fundraising

Throughout the year, we plan selected fundraising events, such as bake sales and a holiday dinner for our families.

Every dollar raised through fundraising and donations directly benefits your child.

We use fundraising contributions and donations entirely to provide extra programming activities or to purchase wish-list toys and books for children in each of our rooms.
